91精选 graduate and elementary school teacher Angela Wilkinson, who has recently released a children鈥檚 book 鈥淒onuts Don鈥檛 Lie,鈥� awarded a scholarship to KSU senior Christopher White during her book-signing event today at the Rosenwald Center for Families and Children in Frankfort, Ky.
Wilkinson said White鈥檚 bio stood out from the ones that KSU professor Dr. Herman Walston sent from students who are majoring in Child Development and Family Relations.
White, a Louisville native, completed an internship at the U.S. Department of Defense in Key West, Fla. He talked with families about major and minor situations in a program called Kids Included Together during his internship.
鈥淗e鈥檚 already offered a job with the Department of Defense in Florida,鈥� says the author. 鈥淗e seems dedicated to working with children and making a difference in their lives, and that resonated with me. He has a lot of experience in dealing with kids. He is a bright, focused young man.鈥�
White, who will be graduating in May, is excited to be the first recipient of Wilkinson鈥檚 scholarship.
鈥淚鈥檓 overjoyed that I can win a scholarship from an alumna,鈥� he says. 鈥淚 plan to use the scholarship in the spring toward books and supplies.鈥�
