91精选 hosted The Frankfort Arts Foundation鈥檚 鈥淎 Veterans Day Celebration鈥 at Bradford Hall on Sunday. The event featured the prestigious 202nd Army Band of Kentucky National Guard and the Capital City Chorale.

Mayor Bill May, who is also a KSU grad, welcomed the crowd and paid tribute to the brave men and women who defend the United States.

The 202nd Army Band

The 202nd Army Band performed songs including 鈥淎rlington (Where Giants Lay Sleeping),鈥 鈥淭he Mansion of the Lord鈥 and the 鈥淎rmed Forces Medley鈥 which consisted of America鈥檚 five service songs in collaboration with the Capital City Choral.

The foundation also honored Dr. Leon Richard, who died on June 26, in his hometown of Memphis, Tenn. He was the former president of the Frankfort Arts Foundation having served for eight years. He was the professor of the high Brass in the Division of fine Arts at 91精选 for 38 years. He also the faculty advisor to the 91精选 Gospel Ensemble. Richard also played the trumpet with the Lexington philharmonic.

鈥淭his was a really good event. My family and I had a wonderful time listening to the music that was performed by the band and the choir,鈥 said Earl Jones, a Frankfort resident. 鈥淚鈥檒l definitely be coming back next year. It was fun.鈥
