A graduating senior said her fondest memories of 91精选 came from getting involved.
Sydni N. Kinchen, a child development and family relations major from Fort Wayne, Indiana, said she chose 91精选 because she wanted to follow in her brother鈥檚 footsteps and attend an HBCU. That decision, and the decision to get involved, paid off for Kinchen.
鈥淭he best memories that I made here would be from getting more involved on campus and meeting so many great people and making an impact on them,鈥 Kinchen said.
Kinchen was involved on campus through KSU Girls Rock, Circle K International, as a resident assistant, a member of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., a peer leader in the campus Bible study group and as a charter member of the 91精选 Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa.
Kinchen said Travis Haskins has been the most impactful 91精选 employee to her during her time on the hill.
鈥淚 remember him helping me my freshman year even though he wasn鈥檛 really my advisor and he always been there for me ever since.
Kinchen said after graduation she plans to move back to Fort Wayne and pursue a master鈥檚 in social work.
Kinchen鈥檚 best advice to current students? Get involved.
鈥淎 major reason why K-State will hold place in my heart forever is because I got involved and made some fantastic friends and memories,鈥 Kinchen said. 鈥淐herish every moment at this school because time does fly by fast.鈥
